Ethnic food festival a big hit

By Our Staff Reporter

KOLLAM, AUG. 29. The ethnic food festival organised by the District Tourism Promotion Council's Yatri Nivas in Kollam is a big draw.

Traditional Kerala cusine at affordable rates is the highlight of the festival.

Karimeen pollichathu, garnished with a spread of carrot, onions, green chillies and served sizzling hot on a banana leaf, is the dish on high demand at the festival.

The attractive part of the festival is that guests are served food on an open lawn on the banks of the Ashtamudi Lake.

There are a variety of naadan dishes for the guests to choose from.

Apart from the tapioca and hot fish curry dish, the ethnic menu comprises traditional chicken and fish curries.

The dishes can be savoured with steaming hot appams, idiappams or chappatis.

The festival has become the venue of a cool outing for families during the Onam hoiliday. The Yatri Nivas manager, Ramesh, said that more than 150 families on an average have been attending the festival, which began on August 26. The festival will conclude on August 31.
