Dharam Singh disapproves of Jerome's move

By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE, AUG. 29. The Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, has disapproved of the move of an IAS officer, Jayakar Jerome, to sue the former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda, with regard to certain charges he has levelled against him when he was the Commissioner of the Bangalore Development Authority. Mr. Jerome, who is now Secretary, Minority Welfare, had sought permission of the Chief Secretary, K.K.Misra, to proceed against Mr. Deve Gowda, who had sought a high-level inquiry against the former Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, Mr. Jerome and some others with regard to the "irregularities" in the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) during the tenure of the previous Government. The Chief Minister, who was speaking to presspersons after a long meeting with Mr. Deve Gowda, said that it was sheer arrogance on the part of any officer to take a decision on suing Mr. Deve Gowda. It was an irresponsible act on the part of the officer concerned. Mr. Singh said that he would advice the Chief Secretary in that regard.
