YSR to speak to Kanda
By Our Staff Reporter
VISAKHAPATNAM,
AUG. 29.
The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Sunday said that he had rejected the request for leave by the Chief Secretary, Mohan Kanda, over the stampede at Krishna Pushkarams.
Asked to comment on reports on Mr. Kanda's decision to take leave, Dr. Reddy told reporters at Uppamaka near Nakkapalli during his Rajiv Palle Bata programme that he would speak to Mr. Kanda.
On the leave applied by the Director-General of Police, S.R. Sukumara, the Chief Minister said that it had nothing to do with the killing of four persons in the stampede and dubbed it as a `mere coincidence.'
Dr. Reddy said: "Mr. Sukumara wanted to go on leave long ago. In fact, his decision to take leave was purely on personal grounds."
