HYDERABAD, AUG. 29. Family members of the president of Tehreek Tehfooz Shariat-e-Islam (TTSI), Moulana Naseeruddin, who was arrested by the police on Sunday on the charge of conspiracy against the State, said he was falsely implicated in the criminal cases. Naseeruddin's daughter, Sumaiah, at a press conference said her father was innocent, urged the Government to immediately release him. She remarked that succeeding Governments had been targeting Muslims and religious leaders. "We thought only NDA Government was harassing minorities. Even Congress Government is no different," she remarked. Asked about her father's arrest in connection with the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) module involving a Pakistan national, Salim Junaid, a few years ago, she replied that court had acquitted her father of all charges. She claimed that Naseeruddin came out on bail within four months in that case and subsequently the police could not prove the charges. According to her, some policemen came to Naseeruddin's house in Saidabad on Saturday evening saying the city Police Commissioner, R.P. Singh, wanted to meet him. "The police refused when some well-wishers wanted to accompany my father. This evening the police say my father is an ISI agent. This is nothing but fabrication of case," she alleged.
