KRISHNAGIRI, AUG. 30 . The Government has sanctioned a sum of Rs. 3 crores for a special socio-economic development programme in Denkanikottai taluk, the Collector, Mangat Ram Sharma, has said. At a seminar on Hi-tech Agriculture in Hosur he said that the Government was giving special importance to Hosur and Tali in Krishnagiri district for developmental programmes. While a sum of Rs. 6 crores was sanctioned for the composite district of Dharmapuri last year, the present package was sanctioned for the naxal-affected areas of Krishnagiri. The Collector said that the Agri export zone, TANFLORA, was planning to start production in December. It would have a manifold increase in cut flower production especially roses and would also ensure post-harvest facilities like preserving the flowers and packing them to international standards and aid in their marketability. A flower show would also be organised in Hosur in December catering to International standards. He said that an agricultural clinic with extension services would be promoted in every block. Mr. Sharma said that a Horticultural Research Institute would also be coming up in Tali at Rs. 2 crores. The institute would provide extension services to the local farmers and would also provide training to 50 students every year. He said that the district administration was also exploring the possibilities of starting a wholesale market for vegetables and setting a flower auction centre in Tali and Hosur.
