Chief Secretary, DGP to continue in office

HYDERABAD, AUG. 30. The Chief Secretary, Mohan Kanda, and the Director-General of Police, S. R. Sukumara, will continue in their present positions.

The Government clarified here today that they would not be disturbed.

The Chief Secretary wanted to step down owning moral responsibility for the Krishna Pushkaram tragedy.

But the Chief Minister, Y. Rajasekhara Reddy, advised Mr. Mohan Kanda to continue in office.

As regards Mr. Sukumara, a spokesman said the DGP was sanctioned leave that he had sought long ago.

He would resume duty within two or three days.
