Smitha Rao enters final

BANGALORE, AUG. 30. Smitha Rao of Thomson and Chandana of GE set up a title clash for the women's singles in the corporate badminton tournament at the KBA courts here. Smitha overwhelmed Shwetha of Infosys 11-1, 11-1 while Chandana was equally emphatic in her 11-2, 11-0 victory over HCL's Rashmi.

Team championship: (Pre-quarterfinals): Symphony bt CG Smith 2-0; Oracle bt Force Computers 2-1; GE bt Thomson 2-1; Satyam bt Infosys 2-0; IBM (1) bt IBM (2) 2-0; Netkraft bt TCS 2-0; Sasken bt SAP Labs 2-0; Motorola bt Bosch 2-0.

Open events: Women's singles (semifinals): Smitha Rao (Thomson) bt Shwetha (Infosys) 11-1, 11-1; Chandana (GE) bt Rashmi (HCL) 11-2, 11-0.

Women's doubles (semifinals): Smitha Rao/Meeliya (Thomson) bt Indu/Srividya (SAP Labs) 15-2, 15-4; Rashmi/Suma (HCL) bt Shilpi/Sugandha (Oracle) 15-7, 15-2.

Mixed doubles (semifinals): Chandana/Anshuman (GE) bt Smitha Rao/Hemanth (Thomson) 21-11; Sandhya/Harish (Symphony) bt Sugandha/Rishi (Oracle) 21-10.

Men's singles
