Youth dies of asphyxia

CHENNAI, AUG. 30. A 22-year-old youth choked to death after inhaling poisonous gas while desilting a well on Baroda Street at West Mambalam today.

Firemen said K. Suresh stepped into a 43-feet deep well to desilt it. The well had about 15 feet of water from the ground. Soon after he stepped into the well, he swooned and fell into the water. Firemen got a call around 3.30 p.m and an emergency rescue team rushed to the spot, but they could only retrieve his body.
