Free rail travel for interviewees from Sept. 6

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, AUG. 31. In keeping with the announcement made by the Railway Minister, Lalu Prasad, unemployed persons upto the age of 35 years, appearing for interviews to Central Government jobs, will enjoy a free rail travel facility from September 6. The facility will be for basic mail and express fares in second class only — sleeper class excluded. However, other charges such as reservation fee and the super fast, safety surcharge will be realised in full. The station managers and station masters will issue the tickets on production of call-letters.

For those appearing for interviews to jobs in State Government offices, Government undertakings, universities and public sector banks, the existing provision of 50 per cent concession in second or sleeper class would continue, the Railway Ministry said.
