PANAJI, AUG. 31. The Konkani monthly, Bimb, has plans to document achievements of Konkani-speaking people in the Indian Film industry for its Deepavali special issue. As Deepavali this year would coincide with the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) being held in Panaji this year, documentation of the achievements of Konkani-speaking people attained more significance, said Dilip Borkar, Founder-Editor of the magazine. Mr. Borkar said that Konkani-speaking people were spread throughout the country, especially in the coastal belts of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala. They had made immense contributions to the film industry, right from music to camera work, he said. He said some of the Konkani-speaking celebrities included Shyam Benagal and Girish Karnad. He said it would be difficult to contact every individual personally. He requested all those who had contributed to send their details and articles to Bimb either through post or by e-mail to The Chief Editor, Bimb Publications, GSB-3, Housing Board Colony, Porvorim, Goa - 403521 or emailto bimbmasik@rediffmail.com.
