Zebra lines

Sir - The busiest city next to Chennai is Coimbatore. Crossing the road in several places is extremely difficult and vulnerable. I have seen the elderly people struggling to cross the road. It is imperative to mark the Zebra lines to facilitate the pedestrians to cross the road with full safety.

Rev. S.C. Jayakumar,

Action sought

Sir - Shopkeepers occupy consistently the pavement on either side of the 100 feet Road, Gandhipuram. It seems the authorities concerned do not consider this to be a serious problem to be immediately looked after. I request the authorities to look into this matter as early as possible and to put a stop to this never-ending process.

Maria Linda Anitha,

Coimbatore.

Who will roof the top?

Sir - As many trains pass Avinashi Road, the traffic under the bridge comes to a grinding halt (as the public fear that the toilet water and rubbish will fall on their body as the cavity between the rails are not protected. Since the bridge is on a busy road, there is a traffic jam as there are four entry and exit points.

It is requested that a protective tin sheet cover is provided under the rails so that such artificial rain of rubbish could be avoided.

C.M. Jeyaraam,

Vice-president,

Citizens' Voice Club,

Coimbatore.

Water once

in 10 days

Sir - I wish to highlight the problems faced by our colony, Elango Nagar. As per schedule, drinking water should be supplied once in four days.

But we get water once in 10 days and that too only for an hour.

Hence we have to spend money for tanker supply.

This problem was brought to the notice of Corporation authorities several times, but to no avail.

The other colonies nearby have sufficient water supply. Taps are open throughout and water is being wasted and let on roads.

I request the authorities concerned to do the needful.

Hatim G.

Coimbatore.
