Reserve Bank clarification

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, AUG. 31. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has clarified that all coins, including 25 paise and 50 paise coins, are legal tender and will continue to be so.

This follows reports and complaints to the effect that shopkeepers, traders, transport undertakings and Government departments are not readily accepting 25 paise and 50 paise coins on the ground that they are no longer legal tender and are not being accepted by the banks.
