The Palliyoda Seva Sanghom (PSS) which organises the Aranmula Uthrittathi boat race and the district administration have made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the annual snake boat regatta. The Governor, R.L. Bhatia, will inaugurate the boat race at 1 p.m. tomorrow. The District Collector, Rabeendra Kumar Agarwal, told The Hindu that the release of water from the barge of the Pampa irrigation project at Maniyar would commence from 5 a.m. tomorrow to ensure sufficient water level in the racecourse at Aranmula.
Joint team
Mr. Agarwal said a joint team comprising representatives of the Revenue Department, Water Resources Department and the PSS had been constituted to monitor the release of water from the Maniyar barge.
