Mr. Rathore, reviewing the preparations for the campaign at a meeting in Jodhpur on Sunday, said the damage caused to roads would be properly assessed and the maintenance planned accordingly. All the potholes would be filled under the action plan formulated as part of the drive, he added.
The funds have been released to the districts where the delayed monsoon rains had caused extensive damage to the roads. The senior PWD officials will monitor the repair works to ensure their completion in accordance with the norms and people's expectations. The contractors who are still within the timeframe of previous maintenance contracts would be given the task.
The meeting was informed that there were about 12,000-km-long rural roads in the State which had not been renovated for the past 12 to 15 years. Mr. Rathore noted that these works would cost Rs. 450 crores and the State Government would seek loan from NABARD for the purpose.
In another decision, Mr. Rathore said a loan worth Rs. 200 crores would be taken from NABARD to convert the metal roads into tarred roads. The work in this regard under the first phase will be taken up in December mainly in the villages with the population of more than 1,000.
