ANANTAPUR, AUG. 31. Bankers have agreed to give crop loans till September 30 in the district following a meeting of the Agriculture Commissioner and SLBC officials at Hyderabad recently. The loans will be given for crops other than groundnut. Talking to newspersons here today, the Anantapur MP and DCC president, A. Venkatarami Reddy, complimented the banks for giving highest-ever crop loans this season. They had already given Rs. 475 crores towards loans and it was expected to touch Rs. 500 crores till August 31. Another Rs. 30 to 40 crores could be given during September, he said. He, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the banks' failure to reschedule crop loan dues as directed by the RBI. He requested the banks to complete rescheduling of loans till September 30. He had a special word of praise for Sree Anantha Grameena Bank for giving maximum crop loans this season.
