Five killed, seven hurt in accidents

CUDDAPAH, AUG. 31. Five persons have died and seven others sustained injuries in four road mishaps since Monday.

Three persons died when an APSRTC bus coming from Tadpatri hit an autorickshaw at Simhadripuram mandal headquarters on Monday evening. A handloom weaver, Uppara Nageswara Rao (32), who was learning to drive autorickshaw, died on the spot when his head was crushed in the mishap.

An farm labourer, Prasad (30), and a fruit vendor, Lakshmi Devi (25), both belonging to Yellanur village, succumbed to injuries at Pulivendula Government hospital, according to the police. The Thalamanchipatnam police registered a case.

A ninth class student at Vempalle, Anitha (19), was fatally run over by a tractor near Thangedupalle bus stand in Veerapunayunipalle mandal. An SSC student, Y. Anitha (14), of Sogalapalle village in Pendlimarry mandal, was also run over by a tractor while she was crossing the road.

Seven persons including three girl students of Balureddipalle village sustained injuries when an autorickshaw in which they were travelling, hit a lorry from behind on Tuesday.
