HYDERABAD, AUG. 31. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, told a delegation of the APNGOs' Association on Tuesday that financial constraints did not permit the Government to immediately pay interim relief to employees. Responding to a demand by the association for payment of 20 per cent IR pending finalisation of the Pay Revision Commission's report, Dr. Reddy said this may not be possible now. He advised them to wait for the PRC's recommendations. Led by the president, B.V. Subba Rao, and the general secretary, G. Siva Reddy, the delegation discussed with the Chief Minister the 19-point charter of demands it had submitted a few days ago. As many of these demands related to allotment of houses and sites in various towns, Dr. Reddy assured that the Government would try to provide a house site to every employee before his retirement from service. Referring to the demand for regularisation of contingent and contract employees, Dr. Reddy pointed out that there were some who were recruited as per procedure and others who were not. He offered to refer the whole matter to the Centre for Good Governance (CGG) for its recommendation. The association also demanded removal of targets for the Anti-Corruption Bureau, reinstatement of 13 employees of Health and other departments now under suspension, continuation of the AP Administrative Tribunal and liberalisation of rules under the medical invalidation scheme.
