Spurt in demand worries Transco
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
AUG. 31.
The energy consumption in the State has gone up steeply because of the increased agriculture load.
The AP Transco is able to meet the demand in full because of tremendous improvement in hydel generation at Srisailam. The energy supplied touched a high of 158 million units on Monday compared to 129 mu the same day last year. The agriculture sector claimed 82 mu yesterday.
The sudden increase in agriculture load has been attributed to lack of rain leading to a dry spell.
The Transco is worried over the situation ahead.
The output at Srisailam is likely to fall in the coming few days with inflows dwindling.
