Southern states to get more power from NTPC unit

HYDERABAD,
AUG. 31.
Southern states are set to get increased share from the National Thermal Power Corporation's Ramagundam power station in Andhra Pradesh. The 500-MW capacity new unit of the station has been test-synchronised for the past few days and it may join the grid any time now.
The new unit, which was completed in a record time of 36 months, will take the total installed capacity of the station to a high of 2,200 MW. Out of 500 MW, 160 MW will go to Andhra Pradesh (total 740 mw), 120 MW to Tamil Nadu, 110 MW to Karnataka, 100 MW to Kerala and 10 MW to Pondicherry.
