CHENNAI, AUG. 31. Madras Christian College Abrahams Team outplayed Kerala Varma College (Thrissur) 92-67 in the deciding super league match of the basketball final in the Bertram memorial tournaments, which concluded at Loyola College, here on Tuesday. MCC regained the Shield after a gap of 65 years. The last time MCC won the title was in 1937 and then in 1939. At half time, MCC lead 47-39. Leading 65-60 at the start of the fourth quarter, MCC improved its lead, thanks to some excellent two-pointers from Kannan, who replaced Dhinesh Kumar with eight minutes for the final whistle. KVC put up a good fight in the second and third quarter through a string of two and three pointers from Satish and Harish (he scored 15 points in the penultimate quarter).
