THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, AUG. 31. The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has asked the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, not to allocate the Education portfolio to the Indian Union Muslim League. In a fax message to Mr. Chandy today, the BJYM wanted the portfolio to be allocated to a person who was above communal bias. The Akhila Bharatiya Pathiyan Maha Jana Sabha wanted the Chief Minister to handle the SC/ST portfolio himself. Meanwhile, the Akhila Kerala Pattikajathi-Pattikavarga Aikya Vedi wanted the Devikulam MLA, A.K. Moni, to be made a Minister. The organisation sent fax messages to this effect to the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, the Chief Minister and the KPCC president, Thennala Balakrishnan, among others.
