KOZHIKODE, AUG. 31. The BJP secretary, L. Ganesan, today demanded fresh elections to the State Assembly. Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Ganesan, who is in charge of party matters in Kerala, said the resignation of Mr. Antony as the Chief Minister would not solve the State's problems and hence the Assembly should be dissolved and the United Democratic Front (UDF) should seek fresh mandate. He alleged that Mr. Antony was sacked for being a secularist. Though he was wanting in administrative skills, Mr. Antony had stood up to communal forces, the BJP leader said. Referring to the call the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, during her recent visit to Kerala to fight communal forces, Mr. Ganesan wondered how it would be possible for her partymen to do so when her own Government in Kerala was being dictated to by the Indian Union Muslim League. The Chinthan Baitak of the State unit of BJP, to be held in Kochi on September 9 and 10, would be attended by the senior leader, L.K. Advani, MP, and the party national president, Venkiah Naidu.
