Anil, Appoorwa bag top honours

HYDERABAD, AUG. 31. V. Anil Kumar (AG AP) and S. Appoorwa of LIC won the men's and women's singles titles respectively in the Hyderabad district carrom tournament at Fateh Maidan indoor stadium here today. Anil Kumar defeated R.D. Dinesh Babu 25-24, 20-25, 25-24 in men's final while, Appoorwa got the better of SAARC champion P. Nirmala (LIC) 25-11, 25-5.

Other results: Men: Semifinals: R.D. Dinesh Babu bt V.S.K. Naidu 25-10, 13-25, 25-24; V. Anil Kumar bt D. Ravinder Goud 25-8, 25-1; 3rd place: D. Ravinder Goud bt V.S.K. Naidu 25-20, 25-18.

Women: 3rd place: Ch. Srenica bt Sarika 15-25, 25-14, 25-13.
