Insurance Week from today

CHENNAI, AUG. 31 . Starting September 1 to September 7, the Life Insurance Corporation is celebrating "Insurance Week" to coincide with its 48th anniversary.

The celebrations will kick off with an inaugural function on Wednesday at LIC Buildings, Anna Salai, where zonal manager Mr. R. R. Nair will hoist the corporate flag and Editor-in-Chief, The Hindu, N. Ram will be the guest speaker.

All through the week, there will be contests such as anthakshari, treasure hunt, quiz for staff members at LIC Buildings.

Drawing, painting, essay writing and elocution contests for school children will also be held. On September 4, there will be a seminar on insurance for college students at IIT, Guindy.

On September 6, there will be a motorcycle rally from the War Memorial up to LIC Building.

The other programmes this week include free medical check-up for school children, honouring agents in LIC branches, supplying wheelchairs to poor school children.

The valedictory function will be held on September 7 at Narada Gana Sabha and retired judge of the Supreme Court of India S. Mohan will be the chief guest.
