Condoling his death, the Chamber said Ramaiah had been its member since 1954 and had associated with its executive committee from July 1970. Ramaiah, who assumed office as the chamber president in 1983, was associated with several educational and cultural organisations in Chennai and Andhra Pradesh. The chamber, which remained closed today as a mark of respect, honoured him recently for his "sustained membership support," a release said.
