KOCHI, AUG. 31. Employees of Cochin Minerals and Rutiles Limited (CMRL), along with their family members, today staged a dharna in front of the company protesting against the Kerala State Pollution Control Board's directive to close down the factory. The trade union leaders, who addressed the workers, criticised the Government attitude towards the closure order. The Kadungalloor panchayat president, K.K. Uthaman, inaugurated the dharna. The CMRL Employees Union president, P.S. Gangadharan, presided. The trade union leaders, K.K. Jinnas, N.K. Mohandas, V.M. Sasi, P.H. Sivasankaran, T.J. Titus, Ummer Khan and K.N. Gopinath, were among those who spoke.
