Onam week celebrations conclude

KOCHI, AUG. 31. `Onam Ponnonam', the week-long Onam celebrations conducted by the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) concluded on Tuesday with the Mayor, C.M. Dinesh Mani, inaugurating the valedictory session.

A concert by Kaithapram Vishwanathan was also held on the last day of the programme being held at Durbar Hall Grounds in the evening.

The celebration was inaugurated by the former judge of the Supreme Court, V.R. Krishna Iyer, last Thursday. On the following days, film actors including Mammootty, Dileep, Cochin Haneefa, Prithviraj, Salim Kumar, Mallika Sukumaran, Nadirshaw and Siddharth participated in the programmes.

Classical and folk art forms, including margamkali, thiruvathirakkali, kolkkali, Ravindra Sangeet, Kathak, Odissi and popular forms like mimicry and cinematic dance drew a good audience all through the days.
