Boy allegedly beaten to death

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, AUG. 31. An alleged attempt by a tea-stall owner to bury the body of a 15-year-old boy who had died of injuries was foiled by another shopkeeper who informed the police. One person has been arrested in the incident reported from Welcome Colony in North-East Delhi.

The police received a call on August 25 claiming that some persons were trying to bury the body of a boy.

The police immediately reached the spot, took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem.

The post-mortem revealed that the boy, identified as Kamlesh Ram, son of Ram Dev, a resident of Madhubani district in Bihar, had been badly beaten and there were injuries on his private parts. Following the report, the Welcome Colony police registered a case of murder and arrested one person, Mohammad Shajid (21).

Investigations revealed that Kamlesh had come from his native town to the Capital in search of a job some time ago. He managed to get work in the tea-stall owned by Mohammad Aslam and his son, Shajid. However, they treated him badly.

The shopkeeper who informed the police about the burial attempt also told the police that he had seen the employers beating up Kamlesh and hence he got suspicious when he found that the boy had died.
