The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Tuesday at Safdarjung were 35.4 degrees Celsius and 26.3 degrees Celsius respectively. At Palam, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 35.2 degrees Celsius and 25.4 degrees Celsius. While the maximum and minimum humidity at Safdarjung was 72 per cent and 61 per cent, at Palam it was 81 per cent and 53 per cent respectively.
Woman's body found
Rakhi Mishra had been living alone for several years. From the medical papers recovered from her house, the police found that she was suffering from tuberculosis. She was also having some legal dispute with her landlord. On Monday, her neighbours noticed foul smell emanating from her house. Suspecting that something was amiss, they informed the police, after which the door of her house was broke open and her highly decomposed body discovered. The initial post-mortem report revealed that she died of natural cause. Further probe into the matter is on.
Attempt to
end life
According to the police, Gomti, a resident of Malkaganj in North Delhi, had gone to the house of her distant cousin, Chandrapal, a resident of Sonia Vihar in Khajuri Khas, on Monday to tie "rakhi" on the occasion of "rakshabandhan". Late in the evening, she also decided to visit the house of her adopted son, Mahipal, living nearby. However, there was an altercation between the two over some issue and she returned to the house of her brother around midnight. Today morning, she poured kerosene oil on herself and set herself afire. She was rushed to GTB Hospital where she was admitted with 60 per cent burn injuries. Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Khajuri Khas police station and further investigations are on to ascertain the reason behind the incident.
Arrested on theft charge
According to the police, a motorcycle, bearing a Chandigarh registration number, was found moving under mysterious circumstances near Pratap Nagar metro station around 2-45 p.m. on Monday. The police tried to flag the vehicle down but in vain. However, they managed to intercept the vehicle after a brief chase and arrested the rider. The accused, Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Sector-29B in Chandigarh, told the police that he stole the motorcycle from Sector-35 Chandigarh on the night of August 27. A case in this regard was registered at Sector-16 police station in Chandigarh. Sanjeev also told the police that he was looking to dispose of the vehicle and earn quick money, which he had planned to spend lavishly with his family. A case has been registered at Gulabi Bagh police station and further investigations are on.
