Satyagraha: Traffic likely to be affected

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, AUG. 31. Traffic is likely to be affected in the central parts of Bangalore on Wednesday because of the Bharatiya Janata Party's proposed Bangalore Satyagraha to protest against the prosecution of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharati in the Idgah Maidan case.

The BJP is planning hold a satyagraha near Sir Puttanna Chetty Town Hall from 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic-East), M. Abdulla Saleem, told The Hindu on Tuesday that the police had made alternative traffic arrangements in the areas likely to be affected by the satyagraha. Mr. Saleem said that if need arises, the City Market traffic would be diverted to Pailwan Krishnappa Road and OTC Road, and the N.R. Square traffic to Mission Road and Lalbagh Road.

Any road blockade at the busy Town Hall junction will affect movement of vehicles around Hudson Circle, N.R. Road, J.C. Road, Kempegowda Road, Nrupathunga Road and Kasturba Road.
