ADILABAD, SEPT. 1. The Adilabad Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer, S. Rajaiah, on Wednesday opened a special service counter at the Adilabad branch office of the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India. The counter is to serve as a single window operations facility for LIC customers. The opening of the counter is part of the weeklong Insurance Week celebrations that commenced on Wednesday. The Branch Manager of LIC, Adilabad, N. Prasad, and the Assistant Branch Manager, C. Rajashekhar, told reporters that songs, essay and elocution competitions for school and college students would be organised during the week. Senior employees and agents of the Adilabad branch would be felicitated. A rally and service campaign would be organised on the penultimate day and prizes would be distributed to winners during the valedictory on September 7, they said. They also announced that five villages had been selected as `Beema Gram' and would be awarded Rs. 25,000 each from LIC, to be used for development. The villages are Borigaon, Sonala, Kouta, Guda and Pippalkuti.
