Letters to the Editor
Sir, The editorial "Lessons from a close call" (Sept. 2) on the release of seven hostages, including three Indians, by Iraqi militants is a balanced appreciation of the events. India should take more effective steps to reassure the Iraqi people of its solidarity with them.
A. Krishnamurthy,
Sir, The release of the hostages is heartening but there is no guarantee that such incidents will not recur as hundreds of Indians are still employed in Iraq. They should be assured of gainful employment in India as they have put their life in peril for money.
Sir, The Government deserves to be complimented for its sincere and mature approach. This incident should make all Indians who go abroad to make a fast buck think again.
Ambala Cantonment, Haryana
Sir, Thank god the Indian Government, together with the Egyptian and the Kenyan Governments and KGL, did its bit on time.
Honey Poulose,
