HYDERABAD, SEP. 2. The Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that some ISI agents and Lakshar-e-Toiba (LeT) informants were in the State Police Department and questioned the sincerity of the Congress Government in controlling ISI-sponsored activities. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the BJP State president, N. Indrasena Reddy, and the vice-president, S.V. Seshagiri Rao, said that Hyderabad had become "the main den" after Jammu & Kashmir for ISI activities. They alleged that ISI had opened many front organisations to carry out its "disruptive activities". They said though some LeT activists were arrested by the police recently, many others were still at large including five Pakistan-trained `hardcore terrorists'--Abdul Aziz, Nasir Liaqat, Anwar, Navid and Mujahid. Three others--Nazeeruddin, Muniruddin and Mahbubub Ali-- created support base and gave shelter to them. "All this was stated by an IPS officer in a report submitted to the Government three months ago," they said. The officer had also stated that a watch needed to be kept on the activities of Mujib Mohammed while he was in jail. Mujib was among the hundreds of prisoners released by the State Government on Independence Day.
Joins issue with Left
The BJP leaders joined issue with Communist leaders over the latter's claim that BJP had no right to celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day. They first wanted the Left parties to explain how they were connected with May Day, as it had nothing to do with the Communists. It began to be celebrated every year after four mining workers, who were on strike with their colleagues, were killed in police firing in Chicago in 1886. They said that it was not proper to say that the BJP had no right to celebrate the Hyderabad Liberation Day. The RSS founder, Hedgewar, had sent 2,000 volunteers at different times to participate in satyagraha for Hyderabad's liberation after a request was made to him by Arya Samaj leaders in 1930-31. Besides, the first resistance unit was set up by RSS organisers in 1946.
