THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 2. As many as 737 students received allotment for various engineering courses in the Centralised Allotment Process (CAP) of engineering colleges which began here today. Among the Government colleges, the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram (CET) continues to be the favourite choice of the top rank holders, while Electronics and Communication engineering remains the most preferred course. An upswing was noticed in the demand for the Computer Science course. At the close of the CAP today, all State merit seats in the CET except those for Industrial, Civil and Architecture courses had been filled. For the Applied Electronics and Electronics and Communication courses in this college, seats are left only in the Backward Christian, and SC/ST categories. For the Computer Science course there are seats only in the Backward Hindu, SC/ST categories. On the other hand the Electrical Engineering course did not find favour with the vast majority of the top rankers. For the Electronics and Communication course there are seats left only in the SC/ST category in the Engineering college, Thrissur, at the TKM College, Kollam and at the Mar Athanesius College, Kothamangalam.
