Man from Bihar goes missing

By Devesh K. Pandey

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 3. A 35-year-old man from Bihar who had reportedly accompanied a senior Rashtriya Janata Dal leader to Delhi this past May to attend some ceremony and had been staying at Bihar Bhavan since has gone missing under mysterious circumstances. The Crime Branch of the Delhi police has initiated a probe into the matter.

According to the complainant, Shaheen Anwar, his brother Naushad Alam had come to Delhi on May 30, but he did not return home after that. After waiting for a few days, Shaheen got a "missing" report registered at a Patna police station hoping that his brother would be traced. He told the Delhi police that he even inquired from the RJD leaders, including Sadhu Yadav, about Naushad's whereabouts but to no avail.

Shaheen then decided to come to Delhi in his search. He recently contacted the Delhi police urging them to trace Naushad, following which the Crime Branch was handed over the investigations on Wednesday. Accordingly, a police team went to Bihar Bhavan to inquire about Naushad.

During questioning, the employees there confirmed that Naushad had stayed there from May 30 to June 6, after which he vanished. In between, he had met a person.

While the police are trying to trace the person whom Naushad had met before he went missing, they have recovered Naushad's clothes from a Bihar Bhavan room where he had been staying. It is learnt that they would also contact their Patna counterparts in this regard.
