Eight die in Iraq violence
MOSUL,
SEPT. 4.
American and Iraqi troops clashed with militants in northern Iraq on Saturday, killing at least two militants and injuring three Iraqi National Guards, the U.S. military said.
Local health officials said eight Iraqis were killed and more than 50 injured in the violence.
A U.S. helicopter made a controlled landing near the clashes at Tal Afar, about 50 km west of the northern city of Mosul, the military said in a statement. The helicopter's two crew members "received non-life threatening injuries," and were in a stable condition.
