Two mothers end lives with sons in separate incidents

NIZAMABAD, SEPT. 4. In a heart-rending incident at Mosampur village under Sadasivnagar police station limits in the early hours of Saturday, a woman threw her lone son in a drinking water well adjacent to her house and later jumped into it.

According to information reaching here, 35-year-old, Lakshmi, unable to provide medical treatment to her son, Naveen (nine) who was suffering from a brain disease, took the extreme step.

She and her husband, Narasaiah, an agricultural labourer, expended Rs.70,000 on their son's medical care so far. When they got examined their son by expert doctors in Hyderabad recently, the doctors reportedly said Naveen needed to be operated upon immediately for which Rs.1 lakh would be required. The Sadasivnagar SI, Lakshminarayana, registered the case.

KARIMNAGAR: In another incident, unable to bear with family problems, a housewife, P. Kanakamma (35), along with her two sons -- P. Suresh (15) and P. Shiva Shankar (six), jumped into the water of the NTPC ash pond in Kundanapalli village of Ramagundam mandal on Friday night.

According to Ramagundam police, the incident came to light on Saturday morning. Her elder son, Suresh, was mentally ill and the younger son, Shiva Shankar, was not moving freely in society and suffering from an ailment.
