DAVANGERE, SEPT. 5. Sports helps build a cordial atmosphere and relationship among people, G.M. Hayath, Inspector General of Police, Eastern range, has said. Distributing the prizes to the winners of the Kenchaveerappa Memorial Tournament here on Sunday, Mr. Hayath said that the Davangere police, believed that the sports activities helped establish good rapport between the police and the public. Alok Kumar, Superintendent of Police, who led the team, said that this kind of sporting activity reminded people that police were human beings too. T.S. Vasupal, who sponsored the prizes, spoke. Jayaprakash, R.T. Arun Kumar, and Maheshwarappa, participated. The Davangere journalists finished runners-up.
