MADURAI, SEPT.5. The Madurai Kamaraj-Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Teachers' Association organised literary competitions as part of its 17th annual conference to be held on September 25 and 26.

Eighty students from 25 colleges participated in the competitions. The winners were: Tamil verse writing: 1.P. Dania (Mangayarkarasi College), 2. M. Arul Jeevagar (Arul Anandar College), 3. S. Shanmugam (Thiagarajar College). Tamil Essay writing: 1.M. Titus Mohan, 2. K. Saranya, 3.C. Michael Raja (all from Arul Anandar College). Tamil Elocution: Shabana Yasmin (Adhi Chunchanagiri College for Women, Cumbum), A. Joseph Verghese (Arul Anandar College), A. Ranjith Kumar (P.M.T. College, Usilampatti).
