BELGAUM, SEPT. 6. A North Karnataka District Newspaper Editors' Association was formed at a meeting of editors from 12 districts in the region, including Hyderabad Karnataka, here on Sunday. According to the Editor of a daily, Gadi Kannada, and member of the Karnataka Press Academy, Murgesh Shivpuji, the association was formed to fight for the cause of the district newspapers in the north Karnataka region. With unhealthy competition in the print media and neglect by the Government, the survival of many district newspapers was threatened. The problems of the language press in the border districts were more severe, he said. The Government had decreased advertisements to the district newspapers, which had affected their income. The meeting was presided by senior journalist and Editor of Lok Darshan, M.B. Desai.
