Letters to the Editor
Sir, Given the existing state of affairs, the people cannot be blamed for losing faith in the credibility of the parliamentary system of democracy ("Parliament under suspension," Sept. 4). At times, it is the government that is charged with scuttling the Opposition in Parliament. But today, we are seeing just the reverse. The Opposition is gagging the expression of the government.
R.K. Divakara,
Sir, After days of the protest drama in Parliament, the latest gimmick of the Opposition seems to be the so-called "satyagraha" led by the BJP. Mahatma Gandhi described satyagraha as "the vindication of truth not by infliction of suffering on the opponent but on one's self." That it is being used as a rabble-rousing instrument is unfortunate.
Chimmu Augustine,
