MCPE wins

PERUNDURAI, SEPT. 6. Maruthi College of Physical Education (MCPE) got the better of Tamil Nadu College of Engineering (TCE) 80-32 at the kabaddi courts, while host Kongu Engineering College (KEC), Perundurai, beat Sethu Engineering College 25-14, 25-15, 25-14 and advanced to second round of the volleyball event in the fifth State-level inter-collegiate tournaments for the Kongu Trophy at the KEC courts here on Monday.

The results: Women: Basketball: Nirmala College (Coimbatore) bt Cauvery College (Tiruchi) 60-41; PSGRK (Coimbatore) bt Holy Cross (Tiruchi) 51-23; MOP Vaishnav (Chennai) bt Emerald (Udhagamandalam) 50-27. Badminton: MOP Vaishnav (Chennai) bt PKR College for Women (Gobi) 2-0. Volleyball: Dr. GRD College (Coimbatore) bt Vellalar College for Women (Thindal) 25-1, 25-4, 25-3; PKR College bt Maharaja College (Perundurai) 25-10, 25-16, 25-8; Sri Saradha College (Salem) bt Tirupur Kumaran College (Tirupur) 25-7, 25-8, 25-8.
