VISAKHAPATNAM, SEPT. 6. The main annual cultural event of the Sri Krishna Vidya Mandir here -- Sri Krishna Janmastami -- celebrated on Monday drew a good crowd of visitors. Once again a large number of children participated in the popular Bala Gokulam competition and the school's pupils presented some incidents from the life of Lord Krishna, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
Scenes enacted
The celebrations started with the puja and bhajans and speeches by some schoolchildren on Lord Krishna. The scenes from the life of Lord Krishna and the epics were enacted in specially decorated classrooms which were opened to the public from the afternoon. The pupils of classes sixth to 10th were divided into four houses and each house presented an incident from the epics, with the children playing their roles to perfection under the guidance of their teachers. The programme was inaugurated by the general secretary of the Libenshilfe, T. Saraswati Devi.
