CHENNAI, SEPT. 6 . Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Rayyalaseema and south interior Karnataka and active over coastal Andhra Pradesh and north interior Karnataka. Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka, at many places over Telangana and south interior Karnataka and at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Isolated rainfall occurred over coastal Karnataka. The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in cms.: Srisailam (Kurnool dt.) and Malur (Kolar dt.) 10 each, Vellore 8, Sholinghur (Vellore dt.), Gadwal (Mahbubnagar dt.) and Perur (Khammam dt.) 7 each.

FORECAST (valid until Wednesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over Andhra Pradesh, north Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and interior Karnataka during next 48 hours.
