Conversions on the rise: VHP

By Our Special Correspondent

VIJAYAWADA, SEPT. 6. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has alleged that conversion of Hindus to Christianity has been on the rise ever since the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government took over.

Addressing a press conference here today, the VHP's international working president, Ashok Singhal, said that conversion across the country, especially in Andhra Pradesh, had assumed ``colossal proportions.'' ``While conversion in itself is a crime, mass conversions are under way. You cannot take away the culture of the people by alluring them, taking advantage of their poverty,'' he said.
