Kashmiris disappointed

By Shujaat Bukhari

SRINAGAR, SEPT. 6. The Foreign Minister-level talks between New Delhi and Islamabad which concluded today have disappointed Kashmiris as there was no visible headway.

Even as the separatist leaders, particularly those who met the Pakistan Foreign Minister, Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri, said their "viewpoint has been registered," but the people at large were not happy with the outcome. "We were expecting at least some movement forward vis-a-vis Kashmir but as usual they are sticking to their positions which will continue the bloodshed here," said Noorul Amin, a trader in Poloview area.

Noor Ahmed Baba, head of the Political Science Department at the Kashmir University, sees no change in the "Congress mindset" over Kashmir.

The People's Democratic Party president, Mehbooba Mufti, said there should have been some headway in Kashmir-related CBMs.
