According to reports reaching here, the farmer, L. Hanumandlu (42), was fixing the fuse to the transformer of the Sircilla Electricity Cooperative Society (SECS) to water the crops. Villagers staged rasta roko with the body at the electricity office near the bus stand. They said the incident wouldn't have happened had the lineman undertook repair to the transformer. They said they had sought repair to the transformer, but the lineman allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 500. They gheraoed the Assistant Engineer and the lineman and tied them together near the transformer. The Chandurthi police intervened and set them free. The SECS official, Jagadesh, rushed to the spot and pacified the agitationists. He assured to sanction an ex-gratia of Rs. 1 lakh to the bereaved family members.
