HYDERABAD, SEPT.6. Leaders of various SC, ST associations demanded action against the Osmania University Vice-Chancellor, J. Ananta Swamy, and Registrar, Mutta Reddy, accusing them of "humiliating and abusing the Executive Council member, Y. B. Satyanarayana, in the name of his caste". Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Lambada Hakkula Porata Sangham president, Billaiah Naik, and Mala Mahanadu president, Venkat Rao, said Dr. Satyanarayana, was unceremoniously asked to leave the Executive Council meeting on August 19. He was told that he was no longer a member following his retirement as the Principal of Dharmavant College of Science and Commerce, Yakutpura.
`Displeasure'
Several issues raised by Dr. Satyanarayana regarding injustice meted out to Dalits and other irregularities including filling of 65 SC, ST backlog vacancies in the university apparently displeased the authorities and they were keen to show him the door, the leaders alleged. "The Executive Council membership was on the basis of his seniority and it had nothing to do with his post.
