Temperature

MADURAI, SEPT. 6. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 33 degree Celsius and a minimum of 24 degree Celsius.

Water level

The level in Periyar dam stood at 117 feet, with an inflow of 185 cusecs and a discharge of 1,013 cusecs.

The level in Vaigai dam was 40.91 feet with an inflow of 420 cusecs and a discharge of 30 cusecs. The combined Periyar storage was 3,028 mcft.

Rainfall received in the region in the last 24 hours (in mm): Kuppanampatti — 8, Periyar dam — 4, Peranai — 2.6 and Sothuparai — 2 mm.

`Activate SIM cards'

The last date for activating BSNL prepaid starter pack card is Tuesday.

In a statement, the BSNL General Manager said those who purchased the Excel cards should activate them before the midnight of Tuesday.

Tributes paid

Floral tributes were paid to P. K. Mookiah Thevar by several organisations on the occasion of his 25th memorial day today.

Wreaths were placed at his memorial at Usilampatti, and his statue at Arasaradi in the city was garlanded by leaders of the different factions of the All India Forward Bloc and P. K. Mookiah Thevar Narpani Manram.
