MADURAI, SEPT. 6. The small savings agents who have helped the Small Savings Department mop up a hefty sum by mobilising deposits under various schemes were given incentives. Totally, Rs. 20.07 lakhs was given away in incentives to the best agents by the Collector, D. Raajendiran, at a function held last week. The bulk of deposits were for the postal small savings scheme, the monthly and annual schemes and other schemes. Some of the agents, including V. V. Balashanmugam, G. Narasimhan, P. S. Karuppan, H. Velipandy, N. M. Senthil Kumar, K. Muthu, and G. K. Yoganantham, received Rs. one lakh as incentives each. Meanwhile, the Department has sought applications from the agents who have performed well to qualify for the incentives for 2003 - 04. Applications should reach the office of the Small Savings Department by September 10.
